National Pancake Day Free short stack at IHOP between 7AM-10PM.

In honor of National Pancake Day/Mardi Gras’s Fat Tuesday tomorrow, IHOP is throwing free pancakes off balconies across America.

Instead of actually throwing them you should be able to find them serving one free short stack per customer from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow. (Find a location near you.) The pancakes are free, but IHOP is accepting donations for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.Free Pancakes at IHOP

Interesting factoid about national pancake day, from the IHOP Web site:

Known also as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, National Pancake Day dates back several centuries to when the English prepped for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products…hence the name Pancake Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday.

So, get your pancake on. Responsibly, of course.

P.S. When I was a kid my parents taught me that pancakes were called Panacaked as in (pan-uh-cakes). I didn’t learn the real pronunciation until an embarrassing moment in grade school. LOL!
