The largest beef recall in U.S. history on February 17th is still producing shockwaves of recalls throughout the country in products that utilize beef in their products. The latest product to fall under the major beef recall is General Mills Progresso soup brand. General Mills is not recalling all types of the Progresso soup brand but specifically the Italian-Style Wedding Soup.

There have been no illnesses reported and this is a voluntary recall done by General Mills and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

18.5 oz cans and 15.25 oz microwaveable bowls

· 15.25 oz. Microwave Bowl of Progresso Italian Wedding Soup, “Best if Used By” dates from 12OCT9 to 08NOV9, UPC#: 41196-40339, CODE: 11311, GROUP: 1286.

Total numbers on the number of items being recalled have not been released. The true situation is that beef has not been labeled as having any bacteria or mad cow scare, which is typical for beef recalls, the recall is due to Hallmark / Westland Meat Packing Company in Chino, California not being completely and properly inspected by the USDA.

“Families should check their cabinets for this widely-distributed, popular product, and return unopened cans to the store for a full refund,” Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. said. “Anyone who has open cans or ‘bowls’ subject to the recall should throw the containers and food away.”
